Our travel agent said many of the staff are students, so we should be patient. We found the reverse - the staff couldn't have been more eager to please and they make a huge effort to ensure every detail is perfect. We had a huge room and the biggest bed I have ever seen ! The pool is tiny but nice enough to cool off after a hot day of sightseeing. Only a few minutes walk to the town center with plenty of restaurants and a nice walk along the river.
Beautiful and quiet Boutique Hotel in the touristic district. Big rooms modernly furnished, confortable big bed, big windows with garden views, and a beautiful swimming pool. The service and food are also excellent. They speak excellent English and some speak French. Good wifi too. This has been my best value in Vietnam for long time.
We loved this hotel. If no one had told us that it was part of a training college, we would probably not have known. The hotel itself is lovely. The rooms are large and well-appointed. The bed was HUGE and really comfy. Care has been taken with those "little touches" that make a place truly special, like a little pack of homemade cookies with a cheerful note with your bed turn-down. Or the extra roll of t.p. in the bathroom. Or the lovely welcome drink and the cool towels on arrival. The surrounding area can be noisy, but there is little the hotel can do about that. This was really one of the highlights of our trip to Vietnam and I am sorry that we only spent one night here.
We chose this hotel based on previous reviews and we loved our stay so much that we extended it with 2 days. And I just registered in tripadvisor just to leave a review about it!
The location is good, the rooms are enormous and so are the bathrooms. The furnishings are not new but they have this classic charm about them, so we felt like in an old movie.
But the best part are the staff - all of them are young and still learning, but are very enthusiastic and kind. For example one morning the kitchen was 15 minutes late with our breakfast and the bus had come to pick us up for a daytrip. I've never had a waiter apologise so profusely and sincerely. And they quickly packed us the breakfast, so that we can finish it on the bus.
Oh, and every night someone came to our room and gave us cookies for goodnight! Hand-packaged with hand-written notes on them.
The only weak point I found was that their Pho wasn't that good. It wasn't bad, but compared to the excellent service I expected the food to be on par.
The hotel is right next to the city center so it is easy to walk around. Staffs are nice and friendly. Room was standard but clean and comfortable.
Every evening we had delicious cookies in our room enclosed with a card quoting an inspiration quote. It's so sweet!
My parents and I visited this hotel in the beginning of April and we had the best sleep we have had during our travel. Hotel is driven by students and they make a true effort your stay will be as smooth and comfortable as possible. Calm and quiet, great price, excellent breakfast, very clean and top service. Situated in the center of Hue, close to everything by taxi or walk. When we visited they just finished to build a small pool on the backyard, and were about to extend the hotel, it was a building site but we did not at all get disturbed by this as somehow they could keep it very quiet.
Understand ing that this is a tourism school, we set medium expectations. Small things were bothersome (no wi-fi initially, laundry returned a day later than promised, and some confusion with translations ( a tendency to answer "yes" no matter the eventual facts). The breakfast was a bit limited, but well prepared and at proper temperatures, but dinner/lunch was a very limited menu with items being unavailable long after orders were taken. The rooms are large and very comfortable and the location wonderful. Eddie, the new GM, said he was working on the menu for the future. The students are very solicitous and eager to assist.
I've got very mixed feeling about this hotel especially as I know this property for quite some time. When it was opened, it was stunning beautiful with reasonable prices. After many years, I see many things are deteriorating. Very mixed feeling indeed.
The hotel facilities and rooms in general are good if you pay around USD 50-60 price range, probably not up to USD 100 in my evaluation. Rooms are very spacious and clean with bathtub, free WIFI, and other basic facilities. As a mid range hotel, the rooms are quite nice, I would say.
However, I have a couple of suggestions for the hotel to improve:
1) A/C (centrally controlled system) was down throughout our stay. When we checked in, no one mentioned this to us (I do think it was down even before out arrival, so they should have known it and informed to all the guests at the time of check in). When we pointed it out, they told us they would fix it soon, but they could not change the room as it was down for all rooms. Just to be fair to them, they did apologized for this issue politely later, provided us with fans, and gave us a bottle of wine, so for this particular issue, they did what they could do - and we were thankful for this - but, I had no idea why they could not fix their A/C for such a long time (four days). Unluckily, the weather was very sunny, and during the day, it was very hot. On the last day, we could not even sleep well as it was too hot and got sore throat as we had to run the fan over night. Not very pleasant experience.
2) Ceiling fan in the lobby should be always on to welcome guests. During our stay, it was always turned off (to save electricity cost??). Only when we came there, and only when some staff realized, they turned it on. But for the hotels, it should be always on so that they would provide a good, relaxing environment in the lobby. When it is off, the hotel looked non-operational even.
3) Swimming pool. Despite the hot and sunny weather, the swimming pool in the middle of the hotel was empty -- completely dried up (to save water cost??). Again, it should be ready for use for the guests all the time.
4) The hotel's main gate was closed around 10-11PM every night. We were not informed of this, so when we came back to the hotel, we were locked out. We could managed to ask a security guard to open the gate for us, but but he was complaining something to us in Vietnamese (as he was sleeping I guess). First, the information on the gate should be fully shared with all the guests if the hotel wants to close it at certain hours. Second, there has to be an easy way for the guests to come into the hotel in the late night. I know another friend of mine came back from a bar after mid night, and he could not find anyone to open the gate, so he had to climb up the gate to come back to his room. Not very nice and well thought.
There are many other things we want to point out, but as this hotel is run by the "tourism" school, it should have been maintained better as they teach in their classes. If the hotel is maintained in this standard, and the students think it is ok, then it would not be a good learning opportunity for them as well (let alone for the guests).
We would like to see what the tourism school can do in maintaining the hotel. This is good property, so if it can be maintained well, it could be potentially a very good hotel in Hue. Good luck.
This is an excellent hotel ideally situated in Hue' s tourist district. Our room was very spacious and we'll furnished and included a good sized bathroom with his and her basins and a power shower with piping hot water. We ate here both nights of our stay and the food and presentation were superb. All the staff were very courteous and attentive; this is a training hotel but all that means is that all the staff are trying extra hard.
Stayed for an overnight in a superior room which is quite spacious and comes with a comfy king size bed. Complete set of bathroom amenities are provided too. Some previous comments stated of noise from construction but found only minor interior works are carried out inside the almost completed building across the yard and not even heard a noise at all. Limited menu in the restaurant but tasty in any dishes.
