If you want to visit the Mekong delta, surely consider Mango. Located at the side of the river this offers a peaceful and sunsetviewworthy environment. Very (I mean very very very) helpful and always smiling staff, great food and perfect rooms. Certainly consider doing one of the tours, they are really great value for money. Gives a very nice impression of the area.
    Tranquil atmosphere

This homestay is located away from the city of Ben Tre and you need to walk 10 minutes from the mani road to the homestay. However, they are willing enough to help with transport from and to the mainroad.

Must agree with travelerx94 that the suite was a bit disappointing, our cottage was better; an open shower. That added the feel of luxury.

We enjoyed our breakfast and dinners. The staff is helpful, but again need to agree with travelerx94 that some of the staff are pushing, which we did not like too much.

The tours offered are a expensive, but it's up to you to join them. You can also arrange tours in town.
    short trip away from HCM

The day tour is a must ! Great experience and a lot of discoveries.
The staff is really nice and their english is good
A swimming pool will certainly bring a additional asset, planned for in 2-3 months...We will come back
    Not what we expected

The location is beautiful in a beautiful tropical surrounding at the river. We knew we had to walk 700 m but as backpack travellers we didn't mind. There is no real reception area in this place so the arrival and check-out felt weird. We booked a 'suite' what actually was a basic room to,our standards. We,also had to change room because our window couldn't close. Lots of mosquitos at night in the room. There are only 2 possible activities: use the bicycles of the Mango Homestay (Not free! 3 us per person per day) , or book their tours (they don't show the price somewhere). They have a garden with some chairs to relax. The restaurant has limited choice, and the disher to sober, as lovers of great food we were disappointed. We preferred the street food in Ben tre. Breakfast was poor. The only way to get in Ben Tre is by calling a taxi or bicycle (6 km). A negative point is that you eat the food on a terrace at the opposite site of the central building than where the personnel is staying. So often, you feel like there is no one around. The staff is generally spoken friendly but some of them try to push you too much (e.g. We couldn't finish taking our pictures in the garden because our drinks were waiting on the terrace, 5 minutes later we were pushed to our room because our luggage was waiting there...). I would recommend this stay for max. 2 nighs but don't expect too much of the room. This hotel needs a lot of improvements.
    Peaceful Retreat

We stayed at Mango Homestay as a part of a deluxe 2 day 1 night tour of the Mekong Delta through Come & Go Vietnam. This was definitely a highlight of our 3wks spent im vietnam. During the tour, we experienced the culture and customs of the local people, visited markets, saw local industry (fishing, rice paper production, rice wine, coconut processing and clay brick making). Very comfortable tour spent on a boat cruising up and down the mekong river and cycling through villiages, plantations and rice paddy fields. All paved paths, no hills, all flat!
Food served at the hotel is amazing and consists of fresh local ingredients and multiple courses.
The homestay hotel is situated on the mekong river & is very clean, spacious and best of all extremely peaceful! Outdoor private bathroom is a nice concept however our only criticism is that the rain shower drainage was blocked. A functional bath shower was still available however.
They are currently building a swimming pool which is due to be complete August '15.
Lastly we could not rate our local guide highly enough. He had great english and excellent local knowledge.
Highly recommended to get away from busy Ho Chi Minh City for at least a one night for a stay at Mango Homestay!

    Lovely place, lovely people...

This was a delight in our trip throughout Vietnam. The home-stay is just that, more like a B & B style, but not a resort. The setting is genuine, gardens are real not manicured like some places, the staff, especially Ut, were just tremendous. We visited various villages , businesses, people, rode bikes around the towns, were spoiled on the boat cruises. Had a fun cooking class. Rooms are basic ,but still very adequate, with air con, a fridge etc. Even had a mosquito netted bed turn down. (not many mossies anyway) We were lucky that the real owners were there and we had great discussions with them about the area, learnt how they have really supported and employed the local village people and discussed their various trips and outings that they can book for you whilst at their home. Really genuine people, with a great place. (Even building a pool now !!) Worth every penny !!(or cent..whatever). Stay for a few days.

The activities this homestay has planned for you are great, real local feel! From boat ride to cycling through the local town. The food was great and the staff were very friendly! My only issue was that the rooms were not of great standard, very basic and the bathroom wasn't great at all.
A warm welcome, a memorable stay..

Just left after a lovely two night stay at Mango Home. Can't re one d highly enough the staff were friendly, polite and efficient and the owners were gracious and welcoming. The food was immaculately prepared.

We took a one day tour ( with Hun) which gave us and our children a real insight into the daily lives of the locals in the area. The tour was a real highlight for all of us and gave us a better understanding of the culture, food, work practices and communities of the area.

A real change from the hustle and bustle of Saigon and a nice bike rude from Mango Hone to catch the bus home.

My daughter said she loved it but wished they had a pool. Apparently ones going in in a month or so, so she is already insisting we return.

    A fantastic two days.
Comfortable, clean and well-maintained small riverside resort
    |

Due to travelling along a large section of the Mekong in a short time, we only stayed at the Mango Home Riverside for one night before moving on, but we found the small resort (I'm not really convinced that "homestay" is an accurate term?) to be very comfortable and a very nice introduction to Mekong riverside accommodation. To start with, our hotel transfer from HCMC was well-arranged and comfortable, with a couple of very special boat rides and walking tours on our way to the resort prior and post check in (Optional Separate Extra through Mango Tours). Our Suite Room was comfortable, with a decent bed, basic storage & furnishings (minibar), and a full outdoor bathroom to the rear (large bath, vanity basin, open WC and shower head). It gives the opportunity to see some of the local wildlife from your shower (!!), but it is covered and water pressure/heat etc is fine. The room itself is traditionally furnished but clean and very quiet, and possible to keep "pest free" for the night with a few towels on the ground below the doors. There is also an adjoining outside relaxation area for daytime reading of books etc should you have time. The resort grounds are well maintained but quite uneventful, and unfortunately dont really leave much of a view across the river itself (we parked on the end of one of the hotel boats at the hotel pier to take in the river sights). Given the location, we gather that dining options are essentially limited to the resort kitchen, but we found the dinner options to be adequate and of a reasonable standard. The staff are all very friendly and willing to help, and seem to take pride in the upkeep of the property and their guests happiness and general "Mekong Experience". In general we were actually pleasantly surprised as we are NOT normally "homestay" or "B&B" accommodation users, but we found that the Mango offers very comfortable, clean and pleasant accommodation for a short stay whilst on the Mekong.
    Riverside resort

We had booked this hotel through booking.com. The transportation to and from Ho Chi Minh City to the resort was 160 USD which was rather too much. So we booked a day tour to Mekong delta from HCMC for USD 18 per person. And the end of the tour, we broke off the tour and took a taxi to the resort.
The resort's grounds are quite nice and its by the river. They have a fishing pond in which my son loved fishing.
The rooms are basic but comfortable. Bathroom needs improvement. Staff are friendly and helpful. We didn't do any other activity in the resort but we had a pleasant stay.
The hotel helped us book an air conditioned bus to return to HCMC for USD 5 per person. The shuttle bus comes to pick you up from the resort to the bus office. The ride back was comfortable. Much cheaper and better than using a private taxi.
