    Unique experience

What else is better than an escape from the busy life out there and submerge yourself in a peaceful place called Sol Bungalows, the view is spectacular and just imaging relaxing by the pool surrounded by the field with the sweeten scent of rice is heaven on earth. The food is delicious, simple and natural ingredients are the best.
A hidden gem not too far from Ha Noi

Everything about this resort was out of my expectation. The staff are so friendly with their smiles to welcome us from the parking lot to the reception. It was fantastic to know that the resort was 100% designed by Vietnamese and run by Vietnamese.

Bungalow is really spacious with good design, only one minus point is that the cable tv didn't really work so we went to bed quite early.

I had an unforgettable moment at the restaurant while having dinner, a light fly started to approach the balcony where I sat. Highly recommend the grilled chicken with coconut milk sauce. The coconut milk sauce is not popular in the North of Vietnam so I was surprised to see it in the menu and feel how amazing the taste was with the chicken. Both dinner and breakfast were tasty with good quality food.

And of course the pool with rice field and mountain view is the best part. I will definitely come back to this resort and spend more time here. It is such a lovely place!
    Heaven on earth!

This beautifully designed hotel is absolute paradise. Set right on the edge of the rice paddies in Mai Chau valley, it is the perfect setting for walking, hiking, bike riding and photography. The rooms are stunning, the food is delicious, and they have a great pool for relaxing at the end of the day. I would love to have stayed longer. The perfect spot for a romantic getaway, or a family vacation. The staff were wonderful and we will definitely be back!
    Great City escape

This was a wonderful treat over the long holiday weekend, finally getting out of the hustle and bustle of Hanoi. Currently Sol offers a promotion which includes the 4.5h shuttle ride from Hanoi, which is great, I wish more out of town places would catch up on that.

The resort is very nicely situated on the valley floor surrounded by mountains. While the mountain top shape is distinct Asian, we constantly said 'somehow this reminds us of Austria' ;) , especially when we were lounging in the pool and just enjoyed the view.

Food was all around good. Not great, not fantastic, but very good in a home-y kind of way with some attempt at nice presentation. Breakfast is 'pick-from-menu'.

There is enough to do, we especially enjoyed cycling around. There is a village close by which appears to be mainly a souvenir selling venture, but surprisingly not pushy at all! I got the feeling is still mainly receiving Vietnamese tourists. Unlike what I hear from Sapa, here things are still very mellow.

Yes, there is free wi-fi, but they apologized in advance that connection in this remote area is not that great.
    Very good!

This is very nice bungalow with good location to the villages and rice field. The staff and owner were friendly and helpful from the warmly welcome to the farewell. The food was really delicious and abundant.
a good choice in Mai Chau Valley

My travel partner wanted to book a home stay lodging in the Mai Chau Valley, but I pushed for Sol Bungalows. So glad that I did because it was a very nice place. The setting is lovely and the rooms are comfortable and well-furnished. We loved having a balcony outside our room but our view unfortunately was of the restaurant building. We did not use the pool but it was very clean. From Sol Bungalows it is easy to walk or bike to villages nearby.
Western style hotel within easy reach of friendly traditional villages

This hotel is in a quiet rural area, within walking or bicycling distance of several authentic working villages of the White Thai people. The hotel was very clean and comfortable with courteous staff and great views among the paddy fields while we had a dip in the pool.. We even heard birds singing, and we especially enjoyed the choice of freshly squeezed juices for breakfast. It was great to walk among the nearby villagers as they went about their traditional crafts. Unlike those near Sapa these people had lots to sell but were not at all pushy. We enjoyed an evening meal and an evening of song and dance in one of the guest houses (for home stays) in the next village. We could have stayed in this hotel and just relaxed for a few more days, after a hectic 4 weeks around the rest of Vietnam
    Remote Location in Lovely Setting

We were thrilled when we drove down the lane to this bungalow style lodging. The photos on Trip Advisor do not do it justice. There are beautiful grounds with inviting pool and stunning views over bright green rice paddies and dramatic mountains. We stayed 2 nights in a spacious bungalow with balcony. The staff are very friendly but their English is limited. (Don't forget to turn the button on for the hot water heater in the shower)
We were concerned about the restaurant after reading some reviews. . However, we found both our meals at the Sol Bungalow restaurant to be very good. The Five Flavor Grilled Pork was spicy but excellent and the Fried Pork Thai style had a light coconut batter and tasted very good. Both for 150000 Dong (8 US), the mixed salad was very flavorful 100000 dong (5 USD). Not bad prices at all for “hotel” food.
Our guide told us that there were no good restaurants in the town of Mai Chau (10 minutes by car). We didn't try the Mai Chau Lodge. He was going to arrange a meal at a homestay which he said are very good.
    Impressive view, lovely staff !

After a long ride from Hanoi to Mai Chau, we enjoyed the rest at this bungalow which offers to the green rice paddies. Additionally, our guide did a great job to let us try the Thai's traditional work
The location should be rated 5* but you may make it 6* for the smiling, welcoming staffs.
    Went there by myself

I was travelling solo for the first time and was recommended to travel to Mai Chau. I finally chose to stay at Sol Bungalows and booked an adventure package that they offer. Travelled there by shuttle bus and stayed in one of the bungalows overlooking the rice fields. For the first day/night I was the only person there which seemed a but weird but that was just me once I settled in I couldn't have wished to be in a better place. The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean with a balcony to sit out on and enjoy the peace and quite of the valley.

I spent that afternoon and the next day with Mr Hung - we walked and talked thru neighbouring villages, I spent quite some time planting rice with a local family which was great fun not just for me but many people in the fields and passing by. Mr Hung's english is fantastic and he is great fun so it was very easy to learn about the life and people of this area. The next day I had a different guide and whilst she was very good I found her a little difficult to understand but we had good fun on a bike ride that should have been 2 hours but was more like 3 maybe that was me wobbling all over the place on a bike not quite lined up. I also went on another walk to a different village with her.

The food at Sol Bungalows was excellent and plentiful. I can still recall vividly a fresh herb salad that I had along with all the other beautiful meals.

On my last night a group of young local people put on a dance show which was great to watch and participate in.

Thank you to everyone at Sol Bungalows for making my stay a great adventure for my first solo holiday.
