Good location. Hotel not so much.

We stayed here because it was part of our tour package. The only thing I can say it has going for it is the location. It's a very quick walk down to the riverside and the main street which comes alive in the evening. Unfortunately, you'd have to go back and sleep in this hotel. Our room was large and appeared clean but a bit bare and dated. The shower is over the bathtub but the bathtub is unusually high, so that even my 185cm brother nearly tripped stepping in and out of it.

I had left my day pack on one of the wooden units in the room to go out to dinner. When I came back, there were all these little white spiders crawling all over it. Then when we lay down to go to sleep, we were pestered by little black flying insects. We didn't leave any doors/windows open. In the morning we went to breakfast but I only had a freshly made omelette because all the other food in the buffet had flies buzzing around and on them, which didn't seem to bother the hotel attendants at all. I was so relieved when we checked out. I don't want to see a hotel close down, but this one could do with some significant improvement.
Not terrible but not good either

This hotel does not deserve a 3 star rating. I've stayed in 2 star hotels that are much better than this. Large rooms but - the facilities are run down, aesthetics for the whole building need a desperate lift.
    Pleasantly surprised

Yes this is a government owned hotel and the food focus is Asian but it is an experience and perfectly adequate. Excellent free WIFi and a clean room. Hard mattress but very comfortable. Supper was good and admittedly breakfast more of a challenge to western palates. But you are in Vietnam and so enjoy being away from tour parties touring the Mekong. We stayed here as part of our cycling tour from Angkor to Saigon.
    Time for demolition

Stayed at this very old, dirty and run down hotel during my tour with Saigon Tourist. I'm sure it used to be one of the best hotels in Can Tho but now it is just a real mess. I regret paying extra to "upgrade" to this hotel. The only positive is its location which is right on Ben Ninh Kieu. The rest is just simply awful!
    Disappointment

We had booking through travel tour( Nam A' Chau tour company) 221/Pham Ngu Lao, 1 Distrist HCM city, They take us each person 60USD for including buffet, we booking 1 King room, 1 Twin room. My tour name Mekong Data 2. When we arrival to Ninh Kieu Hotel ( A3 area) , repceptionist told me only have Twin room, that's first Disappointment. And then tomorrow morning, When we come to restaurant, we didn't see the buffet, we ask the service, he told me hotel don't open buffet cause guest in house low. He answer we just choose 1 rice noodle soup or fired eggs. Why the travel tour and hotel don't confirm for us not have the buffet. When we come back HCM city, we came to travel tour and asking Why don't inform for us about that?, The tour leader guy ( Mr Trung) just call 1 reception girl at Ninh kieu hotel, They just apologize about that, don' t handle any thing for us. My think, If you wan't do that for us or next customer only get bad quality servie, And The An travel ( 165/ Pham Ngu Lao) very excllient service, tourguy very nice, friendly, we have recomment for my friend and anyone familier about An Travel,
    Good location, OK hotel

We stayed one night at one of these hotels as part of our cycling trip with Cambodia cycling. This hotel was the base for the US marines during the war and it has a bit of an institution feel about the hotel complex. The room was large and clean with a balcony, though the bathroom was a bit odd. The bathroom door was not in a good state of repair possibly through water damage. The shower was over the bath, but so low that if you are over 160cm tall you will have to kneel in the bath to have a shower. Breakfast was an asian style buffet with lots of interesting choices. It is a nice location by the riverside and a very easy walk to coffee shops and the night markets.
too much noisy, I couldn't sleep at all

We stayed in Ninh Kieu hotel A4, I am not sure it is Ninh Kieu 1, 2 as we stayed there one night only. The place I stayed the same pic seen in the website, location and address, Hai Ba Trung st (we got lost that night, so had a chance to wander around before coming to the hotel)

This place location is good, near where you can get the boat to Cai Rang float market, very convenient, near a Chinese pagoda (there's one the same in Saigon-Cho lon Dist 5, HCMC), many restaurants, drug stores, crowded (I feel safe when staying in where crowded- not too crowded I mean, but street too quiet makes me little scared)

The hotel is poor and completely contrary to its location. It is just kinda very basic, they are building something, so do not expect nice view or something like that. It is just kinda many big houses with many rooms typically like hotel, just two floors only for each, no lift, some looks like for event only, but outside looks ugly haha.

I feel like the wall is not thick enough as too much noisy. I still can hear the kids run out side, ppl talking and the noise in upper floor on my head and .... for God sake, I couldn't sleep at all after a long way more than hundreds km and awaken the night before.

We have three adults and one kid in double room + 1 extra beds. Space is a little small.

You can see on the right hand they offer massage service in ground floor. The rate is around 25-30-40 usd for standard, I dont think it is expensive but I dont think it is cheap either because the hotel is pretty old. Not many foreigners staying. We feel little inconvenient when they charge more in room fee for noodles whilst we couldnt find any instant noodles in the room. We didnt see the list either. We used some snacks for the kids really and already paid in cash when checking out. Everything was fine after then, but the bus has to wait for us more 10-15 mins before departing.

Breakfast @ A3 with many choices, most of them suitable for Southern local ppl with Vietnamese and Chinese foods, they have spagetti, but just kinda basic, home made is better. They got spring rolls, baked chicken, sticky rice, deserts ran out of so quickly and they didnt serve more despite still early, dont know why. I found more bread, eggs, local noodles, haukau (frozen), etc. taste so so, little sweet if you are from other area not the South of VN. Drinks are so poor, orange juice is too much sweet (not real orange), hot water and tea ran out of and no one filled in, only black coffee with no sugar and milk???

Stayed her one night on our way to Cambodia, its a really basis hotel but the rooms were a good size and had a interesting mini bar, if you are tall you are going to have a problem with the shower like my husband did, Breakfast was very average.
Trying hard but not just not there for business travelers

I was at the Ninh Kieu 3 (they have the Ninh Kieu, the 2, the 3, and the 4) which is on the same site at the NK 1 and 4. The NK 2 is closer to the center of Can Tho and appears to be newer though I did not see it for myself. I had a two room suite on the third floor. On first appearance (I asked to see the room before accepting it) it seemed fine. The bed was very firm and it appeared clean. There was a vibrating massage chair in the room which appears to be standard for suites in the NK3. However, the chair and then the room was infested with flees. The staff was at a loss to respond but the manager took this seriously and we negotiated either a change of room of a strip clean of the suite. I suggested they try the strip clean and I would inspect the room again before I decided. To their credit they cleaned the room well enough that over the next three days I have any problems. There are also lizards that find their way into the room everyday and though they advertise they will remove lizards if you asked, they never caught any of the half dozen or so I had over the time I stayed there. Overall this is a very low end property and I would not recommend eating breakfast in their "dining room' unless you have no other alternative but starvation.
