    Ok for a quick stop

Stayed here for one night en route to hoi an. The location ia good, right on the river on a strip with some bars, restaurants etc. The hotel itself was quite shabby, but supplies wifi, toiletries etc. The evening staff did not speak much English which was frustrating when we needed some advice, but morning staff were better with this and could help in getting to the train station. More somewhere to stop off than somewhere to stay.
Great Location - 2mins walk to train
    |

This hotel has the most excellent location only 2 min walk from the train station to go the hotel. Its works out great, the hotel is available for rent by the hour as well and its a perfect spot to drop off a location, have a hot shower, have some traditional food such as Pho (rice noodle), Hanoi sping roll; explore the heart of Hanoi (about 20min walk to the lake at the Old Quarters, with lots to see and eat along the way).
    Fantastic Location

The best thing about this hotel is the location. My room had a nice view of the river. The local market is immediately outside the front door, offering an interesting stroll through local fruit, veggie, and flower displays. There are countless noodle carts nearby and also countless hole in the wall restaurants and coffee shops. The night scene is pretty lively, restaurants, snack shops, and bars doing a bustling business. Also the riverside area directly across the main street teems with young locals taking selfies and enjoying the cool night air. Now back to the hotel. I booked the superior double, the only room on the 8th floor, having a view of the river to the north and the city to the west. At this price point, under $15 all in, you don't expect luxury and flawless esthetics, but that said, the room was certainly clean and comfortable. The air con was cool, hot water plentiful, and all fixtures worked properly. Generous assortment of tv channels (in case of incessant rain?). Shower was the type with hose and no curtain, meaning expect a wet floor (or am I just doing it wrong?). My only small complaint was that the bed had no top sheet, just a comforter, and although everything was clean and fresh, I'm just not fond of sheetlessly sharing blankets. No matter though, as whenever I travel in Asia, I bring a cocoon sheet, or at least a sarong. Also, I understand the complaints of those who had a bad impression of the windowless rooms, but that's so typical in Asia. So, if you don't enjoy that closet/cell experience, as I certainly don't, spring for the extra $2 or so and get a room with a window.
Was pretty happy, would definitely recommend it !

After landing in Da Nang airport, I went straight to this hotel I've booked the day before. I booked this hotel because it was part of Lonely Planet recommendations in town. I only stayed one night at this hotel.
My room was clean and I had no problem at all with the bathrooms.
The only downside is that when sleeping, (my room had no window) there is at the very top of the wall, a kind of opaque thick glass window where lights street where coming to my room. Had to use my eye mask but that's just a detail to me.
The staff was ok, neither super friendly nor arrogant or anything. I would have no problem to recommend it as I was quite happy. Give it a try ! It's right in front of the river where you can talk a walk and observe the dragon bridge !
Don't be deceived by Lonely Planet's "Top Choice"

I usually try to look at lonely planet and trip advisor side by side, but this time I didn't check trip advisor and regretted it. To be fair, we did pay less than $20/night for the standard room, so if cheap with decent location is your only priority, it would be fine. Just know that the standard room doesn't have a window so it's really dark and the musty/dampness is just kind of depressing. If you're there for a quick stop over it may be okay.

Would definitely recommend the dragon bridge fire and water show if you're there on a Saturday night! (Check city website to confirm the day, it seems to change. :)
    Terrible!!!!

Please do not stay here as the value for money is really bad!!! The water stays in the shower, no toilet paper, room smells and the sheets are not clean. I feel so dirty here!!! We payed $20 and I wouldn't even pay $1 for it!!
    Clean rooms

I'm pretty satisfied with those clean rooms although some of them are sorta damp. There are river view luxury king bed rooms that are worth considering (I don't think they are necessary for me though). Standard rooms are of great value for only 350,000VND.
Decent mid range choice - not flashy but comfortable

Arrived without a booking on the strength of a Lonely Planet recommendation. For US$25 a night you get a clean functional room with twin singles, nice bathroom, and a 7th floor window overlooking the Han River. It is on a main road right next to the markets, so expect noise - but nothing that earplugs don't remedy. Taxi (US$5) from train station. Recommended at this price.
    Do not stay here!

My boyfriend and I came here unexpectedly as we were planning to jump on the sleeper train to hanoi but didn't book in advance (always book the day before people!!). I saw it was a top pick on Lonely Planet so thought it would be a safe bet but boy was I wrong! Our "beautifully finished room" (accordingly to LP) had a busted pillow, bed bugs, a sparse&unplugged minibar and a dodgy very noisy air con unit. The "inviting en-suite marble bathroom" was a standard toilet, a very weak shower and dirty shower curtain in a cramped dark space. Didn't opt for a river view yet we still got a good view of the river (just not the dragon bridge) so glad we didn't pay the premium for that.

Would absolutely not recommend - was the first time that Lonely Planet steered us wrong. The 8 bites from bed bugs the next day served as a particularly itchy reminder!
Grotty & depressing - do not stay here!

Lonely Planet is always my go-to when booking accommodation. However, I am completely stumped as to why they would recommend this hotel as their 'Top Pick'. Staff were prompt when booking via email & the process was efficient. Reception were friendly on arrival, but that is where the positives end. Arrived to a dirty & smelly standard double ($25). There were black hairs on the toilet seat & hair in the drain (disgusting!). The room had a such a strong smell of damp/mould that it made me feel nauseous. The air conditioning unit had a dark brown stain underneath it on the wall. The bed had no top sheet & smelled like stale sweat. The duvet was stained & definitely had not been washed. The walls were badly scuffed - stuff I would not normally notice or bother about but it is hard not to! We asked to change room & the staff at reception asked no questions & did not seem surprised - they didn't ask to see our room to confirm what we were complaining about or apologise. We moved to another room, which on first appearances was marginally cleaner. However the sheets still did not seem fresh. There was the same stain on the wall underneath the A/C & there were long black hairs all over the floor - looked like it had not been vacuumed in weeks. Underneath the bed were bits of rubbish & used cotton buds. We only chose to stay as we arrived late & were flying out early the next morning. I strongly recommend you not to stay here, your $25 would be much better spent elsewhere. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
