Staff treated you like family, amazing view & service on budget!

Two years ago, June 2013, I went to Casablanca Hotel. First of all, it was available to us at a very reasonable price, especially for the amazing room and view we got. We had a balcony which overlooked the beautiful rice paddy hills. The best part, though, was the staff. You have to remember, when reading negative reviews is that Vietnamese culture is very very different. If you can get past the little things like lack of air conditioning and un-ideal showers with a smile, you'll find you will really like it. Personally, I didn't find the lack of air-con to be that bad because we were in the mountains, and since I spent the last 4 weeks in the unbearable Hanoi heat, it was really breezy. You will especially love Tom, the owner, who treated us like his own family. I've recommended him to everyone that has gone to Vietnam.
    Big Disappointment! Big Mistake.

Worst room so far in Sapa. No view as was blocked by the new Amazing Hotel. Room No air-con, smell like a oldest room, bed sheet not really clean. Hot water can kill someone, so got to be careful. Lousy hotel. Room got to lock coz next door neighbour can just walk here.. but stuffy if we close as there are No air-con, No windows. Don't ever think of putting up here... Never.
Don't stay here... Don't even consider...

I've been traveling quite a bit & this is the worst hotel ever. Nearly got burn taking shower, water pressure is small, only 2 towel for shower & that's it. Hot & cold water reverse. floor mat smells like dead rat. Bed sheet dusty. Zero service from owner or staff (if you can find one). Free noise & house flies from the road below. Imagine we would rather hang around in the restaurant than go back to the rooms. It's that bad. And no aircon.... I rather sleep on the street.
    Very disappointing

    Disappointment

Me and my wife came from noisy Hanoi to relax. We found this "hotel" at booking com, the pictures were very nice and we had a feeling that it's a very nice and calm place. Interior also was very nice and cozy. But it was ONLY on pictures. In reality everything is in terrible condition. Pictures are outdated. Dining room crowded with personal belongings. Feeling that it's a warehouse. We booked deluxe with king bed, and got two twin beds connected together. The balcony is shared with another room. The view from room is to another big hotel. So do not expect to see a nice mountain view as on the picture. There is also a construction in front starting from 7 am. I would not recommend this place. You can find much better places around as we did.
    Don't even think about it

After two days of hiking over 25 km we were looking forward to showering and relaxing only to arrive at this hotel and be told they wouldn't honor our reservation. We were visiting on Jan 2 -- which is one of the busiest times in SaPa -- and, although we don't have proof, we suspect they rented out our room to a higher bidder. Because it was the busy season we had no other place to stay.

    The friendliest hotel ever

My husband and I spent three days in this hotel and we also had tour guides from the same hotel. It's a low cost, very simple hotel so don't expect too much of the room accomodations. But the food is excellent and so are all the people working there. They are really trying their best to make your trip something to remember the rest of your life.
    kind and helpful staff

Hotel itself is adequate. Air con, hot water all functioning.

A big hotel is being constructed nearby and was noisy in mountain facing room. Staff changed my room without hassles upon my request.

Young chap at the hotel took me on motor bike tour. No guide charge but paying his entrance fee and meal. He did it to learn english, and was extremely patient with me. I had a very bad knee and was extremely slow going up and down steps at water falls. He also rode at a sensible speed.

My Night bus to hanoi booked thru the hotel was cancelled due to an accident somewhere else. No fault of the hotel at all, yet in addition to book me another bus, i was offered a free night!

I am sorry i am not good at remembering the names of the two kind staff, but i truely appreciate the kindness. Later on the trip, when i was scammed i always told myself the small scams are insignificant as compared to the huge kindness shown to me at this hotel.
One of the best staff and the best hotel

This hotel is comfortable, cheap, well managed & very well located.
But first of all it is ran by a wonderful family/staff. They are not just welcoming people, they take time to take care of you, ensuring that everything is alright for you, thinking to offer you things you don't even ask for. One of the young guy managing this walked with us until our bus when we left ensuring that we get it. He waited with us which left us the opportunity to know a little bit more about this great young men. When the bus arrived, even if we were ok, he did all his best to put our luggages first ensuring that we would have after our seats in the bus and that everything was alright.
One more time the hotel was really good but first of all the staff should be the first reason for you to get there !

    Decent accommodation but run down

We stayed here for one night on a quick visit to Sapa. We chose this hotel as it was featured in the Lonely Planet book, being described as a boutique hotel full of colourful decor. After looking at the pictures on here from 2012 the hotel has completely changed. It no longer has the colourful interior and everything seemed a bit run down. Our room (for three people on the fourth floor) was slightly damp but it was relatively comfortable and an upside was we had a balcony overlooking the valley. Although there is a new development being built opposite you can still get a decent view. The manager Mr Tom was helpful and friendly. But we have come to the conclusion that the hotel has probably fallen into disrepair due to the new development being built across the road.
