    Lovely resort

The resort is really lovely and quiet. The food is excellent and the staff is incredibly helpful. We had a great 4-day stay here.
Was great for us, but the only thing is that it is slightly out of town and you are a little isolated unless you rent a motorbike.
Can only recommend it though if you are looking for somewhere nice to relax.
    Heaven on earth

What a way to start our holiday with 3 days beside the beach. The photo isn't lying. Great bungalows with outside showers. Staff were very helpful and we even met up with one of them in Hoi Chi Mingh. The resort was being closed the following week for a complete renovation, so no doubt going more upmarket. Hope they keep the simplicity of it. There is a bus from Pho Quoc to Cambodia - about 5 hours and $23. Wish I had known that before spending 10.5 hours in air and transit. We ate at the restaurant each day and was good - no food poisoning here. Met up with some guests who went out on the town nearby, however we elected to read on the beach and do nothing!
    Quiet and beautiful

We stayed here for 4 days in January and I'm still thinking about our wonderful few days. We stayed in one of the rooms up the hill- you could just see the beach through the trees but the landscaping is lovely and the lights are pretty at night. We'd sit on our veranda with a glass of wine and enjoy the night air. Our room had a fantastic outdoor bathroom- nothing better than a shower in the morning sunshine. We were happy with our room although it is true the lights are a bit dim and the Wifi a bit flakey. we didn't have air conditioning but the fan on at night was all we needed.
The resort is on a beautiful little beach shared with two other resorts but with its own area and beach chairs. Sunsets are simply wonderful, especially with a beer or cocktail delivered to your beach chair. The restaurant is right near the water and a lovely place to sit. We enjoyed the variety on offer for breakfast, especially the fruit and omelettes. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The dinner menu was a but limited although the food we ate there was very pleasant, just not sensational. We ate next door at Mango Bay 2 of our nights and they had a great menu with beautiful food but the price was higher.
One day we hired a bike to tour the island and the reception staff was able to procure us a bike as the resort's bikes were all hired. We actually spent most of that day at Sao Beach in the south which was also beautiful. On another day we booked a snorkelling and fishing trip with John's tours which picked us up from the resort beach. On our last day we just lazed around, hired a kayak, swam and ate. Absolutely beautiful.
The resort is not close to town but after you've seen the town once there's no need to return. If you want to pick up snacks or wine you'll have to do that before you arrive.
Blue Sea is a lovely, quiet, unpretentious but perfectly comfortable place to stay at much less cost than the surrounding resorts. The staff are nice, the rooms are very comfortable, the beach and sunsets are sensational and if you need to upgrade the restaurant there's always next door.
    Do not book here!!!

If it wasn't for the two bar staff and the beautiful beach this would have been the worst 3 days I've spent in a resort... Food poisoning and no attempt from the management team to put it right means I couldn't wait to leave. This is definitely in the lower end of the 3 star bracket

How can I describe the kindness of the staff of the hotel?? No words! One time we did not wake up for the breakfast and when we opened our door the staff prepared for us a breakfast on our private terrasse!! It is a very quiet place, with a clean beach (they clean it each morning at 5am), still wild to keep the beauty natural (much more nicest than long beach). When you add the price in consideration you get stuck by such an hotel quality. I visited many places in Asia, and stayed in all kind of hotel but this one is ma favourite one! No such comparaison possible!
Terrible bathroom and poor restaurant in otherwise nice resort

Stayed there in February 2015 in one of the blue colored beach front bungalows. The resort has a really beautiful beach and our bungalow was also nice, except the disgusting bathroom.
If it would have been some cheap resort, then maybe it would not have mattered so much, but as we payed nearly 90 € per night, then we were quite disappointed. In this price range you can get much better rooms in Asia and especially in Vietnam.
Another downside of the resort is the restaurant. Besides the vegetarian spring rolls there is not much point of going there and by playing only 1 CD with 90's hits all the time creates little atmosphere as well. Thus, to have good food and chill, you need to take a short walk to the Mango Bay restoran next doors.
When we checked out they also asked 3% extra for credit card payment, despite the fact that it was not outlined in Booking.com, where we made the reservation. And this is against the Booking.com rules - all the costs must be outlined.
Cozy and quiet on a lovely beach

My friend and I stayed at Blue Sea for four days. We went looking for peace, quiet and relaxation, and we did indeed get that. We stayed at one of the freestanding huts right on the beach (as oppsed to the more elevated ones up the hill). The room was clean and comfortable. Indoor bathroom, as opposed to the rooms above which apparently have outdoor bathrooms. We had a lovely view of the water from our window and porch (only mildly obscured by the massage hut). Fresh towels daily. TV and internet in the rooms. Internet was even accessible while sitting on the beach. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The landscaping is very well done, and the beach, while a bit narrow, is clean and comfortable, with plenty of chairs for everyone who wants one. The water was clean, and absolutely delightful to swim in. The whole environment was welcoming and relaxing.

The breakfast food had fairly good variety, lots of good fresh fruit. Their menu for lunch and dinner was somewhat varied, but with few vegetarian options, and not really the best value. We ended up trying food at both Mango Bay and SeaSense, the hotels on either side, and those menus were more varied, creative and tasty, for only a little bit more money. Our dinner of the red snapper at Blue Sea was quite good, but nothing special to go with it. For lunch one day I asked them to make noodles and chicken, as this was not a set menu item. They happily did this, and again it was good, pretty typical Vietnamese food, but nothing stand out. In the end, no matter what you do, you have to expect to pay food prices that you would pay at home, as opposed to what you expect to pay in the rest of Vietnam. The price of taking a taxi into town to eat will make up for what you save in paying for your dinner there. Having all three hotels right next to each other makes it easy to mix up your food options while you're there.

Some advice: If you want to have easy access to town, then staying here or anywhere on Ong Lang Beach is a bit of a hassle because it involves somewhat of a long taxi ride that will cost you about 120,000 dong each way. If you're looking to be away from town, in absolute quiet and isolation, then this place is perfect. We went into town one evening for the night market, and after a couple hours, were VERY happy to get back to Blue Sea. We didn't go back after that, and were more than happy just to sit on the beach at Blue Sea. We also really liked that it felt more like a local resort. When eating at Mango Bay next door, it was lovely and quite chic, but it felt like you could be at any island resort anywhere in the world. Blue Sea is most definitely in Vietnam, in a good way.

We would definitely stay here again, and if they made the food just a little bit better, it would be perfect.
A peaceful resort in an idyllic setting

We spent four days in this lovely little resort which probably wasn't long enough. We stayed in one of their wooden cabins set back from the beach and it was very comfortable. The breakfast was full of choice. The resort is away from the main tourist beach so it was lovely and quiet and the sea was perfect for swimming in. The town is a fair drive away, so we just used taxis. Being a vegetarian I found the food in the restaurant a little uninspiring and in general the prices are higher than on the mainland. We booked a tour through the hotel with John's Tours which I didn't think was good value for money as we mostly seemed to visit places where we could buy things, but I didn't learn a great deal. The beach here seemed much nicer than nearer the town.

We stayed at Blue Sea in Jan 2015. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the beach and the sunset. Very beautiful spot, clean rooms. We wanted to dive the coral and reception showed us the John's Tours company. We had booked the snorkeling trip to the north and really enjoyed all of the activities on the tour. The reefs were full of colourful fish. The guides spoke very good english and the snorkeling points were very good. We'll be back. Thank you !
    Cancellation policy

We had to cancel our trip last minute because we had to take our baby son to hospital. Despite telling the resort our circumstances, it charged us half our stay almost $400. I asked the hotel if they could reduce the cancellation fee (I think it's only fair that I should pay something) but said they couldn't make any refunds. It left a pretty bad taste in my mouth.
